1. Identifying Key Ideas

Because this project offered a new approach to faculty training, the first step was to identify its key components: the three distinct pathways, the awards system, and its self-paced format.

2. Scripting and Storyboarding

The script writing and storyboarding process was completed congruently to narrow down the most concise way to express the information being conveyed. For some scenes in the video, visuals were the best way to explain certain aspects of the training, for instance the badging system. In other scenes, narration was written first with visuals then being designed to support and enhance the message.

3. Revisions & Review

To enhance quality of the end result, I had colleagues who were familiar with the training project review my work throughout all phases to obtain constructive criticism and feedback.

4. Designing & Developing

The graphic and visual design aspect of this video was easy, as I applied the elements and 'language' I had previously established for the overall training. I applied Meyer's Multimedia Principles to strike the right balance of visual and audio communication. I also ensured color contrasts were ADA compliant to enhance accessibility.

5. Caption, Publish, Share

Once all of the compositions elements were sound, I published the project, created captioning to ensure it was accessible to all viewers, and uploaded it into our LMS to serve as the introduction to the training.
